Should I Buy A North Facing Driveway in Colorado?

Does it matter which direction your driveway faces? Here in Colorado it definitely does!

Winter is here in Colorado and as a Colorado native I want to let you in on a little secret you may not consider when you’re buying your next home. Buying a home with a north facing driveway could be a huge mistake, unless you enjoy spending all day shoveling or lacing up your ice skates to get the mail.

When my clients are looking at homes I always check to see which way the driveway faces so they can avoid one that is covered in snow and ice, while neighbors homes quickly melt in the sun.

Remember, a south facing driveway will always be best, but I promise you’ll be much happier in the winter if you pass on the north facing driveway, unless of course you want to buy a new snowblower after you’ve closed on your new home.
